Celebrating Hispanic Heritage with Cboe Unidos
Cboe Unidos, our Associate Resource Group (ARG) with a mission to increase visibility of Hispanic and Latinx associates at Cboe, has made a big impact since launching in 2023. Tripling in size after just one year, the group now boasts approximately 80 members.
In its first year, Cboe Unidos focused on increasing representation by hosting events and getting involved in the local community. For the past two years, members gathered in Chicago to ring the bell on the trading floor in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. They’ve also connected outside of work volunteering together at local events like the Chicago Latino film festival, one of the longest running Spanish and Portuguese language film festivals dedicated to Latino filmmakers and cinema. As Cboe Unidos continues to grow, members aim to improve opportunities for the Hispanic and Latinx community through education, mentorship and networking.
Felix Santos, Lead Auditor, Regulatory, and Cboe Unidos Co-Chair, is proud of the group’s accomplishments, commitment to growth and success in bringing together so many associates.
“In addition to professional development, ARGs like Cboe Unidos also provide personal connections for members,” he says. “You meet people you may have never interacted with otherwise and being a leader for the ARG inspires me to motivate others and build valuable connections throughout Cboe.”
Henry Lazo, Senior Sourcer and Cboe Unidos Executive Secretary, echoes Felix’s thoughts. “Uniting associates across the globe is one of our main purposes,” he says. “As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we are connecting with one another and finding a sense of belonging. ARGs enhance the associate experience and make Cboe an even better place to work.”
As a part of the Talent Acquisition team, Henry is ecstatic to tell prospective hires all about Cboe’s ARGs. They help illustrate that Cboe doesn’t just talk about inclusivity and representation but actually takes action to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
Cboe Unidos is keeping up the momentum heading into its second year with a packed agenda to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 through October 15 and marks the independence days of seven Latin American nations: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile.
