Kristin joined Cboe in July 2022, overseeing derivatives product sales worldwide. During 17 years at Credit Suisse, she developed a passion for multi-dimensional problem solving to meet clients’ needs. Kristin had spent her career building a strong reputation in the financial services industry. She was named to Forbes 30 under 30 list for finance in 2011 for her work as investment banker who had become “one of the biggest revenue producers selling derivatives products to hedge funds.”
Now, Kristin’s derivatives sales know-how is shaping Cboe’s global expansion of derivatives, creating better access to Cboe’s derivatives markets. Kristin and her team work closely with Cboe’s clients to establish and foster relationships and help clients discover tailored use cases for Cboe’s products for investment solutions. For Kristin, creating client-driven solutions is not only rewarding but a very exciting part of her job. Whether it’s working with hedge funds, asset managers, retail brokers or more, the versatility of Cboe’s clients is something Kristin appreciates because it helps her team develop numerous approaches to delivering solutions. She enjoys the fast-paced environment in derivatives and admires the commitment her team puts in to create remarkable outcomes for Cboe since there is not one straight answer for how to best serve every client.
“It is critical to know our clients’ objectives and constraints, while also understanding the breadth of products and services Cboe offers,” Kristin says. “There are numerous teams that are integral to unlocking extraordinary outcomes for the clients like our Legal, Regulatory, Technology and Operations, Data and Access Solutions and Marketing, to name a few. We hear from clients that something that uniquely differentiates us is working daily with each business line globally.”
Kristin has also prioritized creating a coordinated and collaborative global sales team to address the needs of Cboe’s growing client base. One of her favorite parts of leading a sales team is being able to mold a group of dedicated associates to become a united group with unique and unparalleled skills. Individuals with an extraordinary work ethic, ability to think quickly and an approachable personality are qualities Kristin looks for when growing her sales team. With her team, she comprehensively plans out how to best serve clients and in turn, grow revenue. Kristin guides her team to focus on building trust with clients, helping them find the best solution together to support investors of all types at any stage of the trading ecosystem.
“Our goal is to think of questions or scenarios that our clients have not even asked about,” she says. “Thinking two steps ahead is part of our proactive approach. Clear and consistent communication allows us to build trust while helping our clients mitigate risk.”
Kristin highlights how the Derivatives sales team works with our Market Intelligence team to help clients understand the markets and why Cboe’s solutions make sense for them. Our clients tell us the Market Intelligence offering is unique amongst our peers, and the weekly reports from Mandy Xu and Ed Tom are among their “must reads” on Mondays.
“When clients believe we understand their needs, they put more trust in us,” she says. “We have a reputation of being people who communicate through good and bad times about how to move forward and that is incredibly valuable.”
Kristin’s problem-solving personality extends beyond her role at Cboe, and into her personal life through hobbies like rock climbing and home improvement projects. Kristin loves figuring out unique ways to reach her goals. From learning to look ahead for the most stable rock when rock climbing to thoughtfully planning how to turn a wall into a window in her living room, Kristin is always evaluating her approach as new information arises. These activities are not only a creative outlet for Kristin, but they help keep her problem-solving skills sharp and ready to translate into her work at Cboe.
